Harcum Overpowers John A. Logan In Second Half, Earns Trip To Elite Eight

Hutchinson, KS – Harcum College (PA) seems to feel it’s hard for them to get much respect playing out east where the number of talented DI opponents are scarce. After forty minutes against the Volunteers of John A. Logan College (IL), the number four seed, the Bears showed everyone they can complete, and they came to play. Leading by two, 46-44 at half, Harcum blitzed the Vols 63-47 in the final period to walk away with the 109-91 conquest, and place themselves into the round of eight.

Harcum (32-2) will meet the winner of Chipola College/Hutchinson CC game which followed the Bears/Vols game, and will occur on Thursday, March 17 at 6:00 CDT.

Harcum had three crack the 20 barrier. Led by Yazid Powell’s 21 and double dip 11 boards. Mohammeed Wague equaled Powell’s d/d with one of his own, 20 points and 13 rebounds. Derrius Ward also nailed twenty with 8 bounds. Ward also led the team with 4 helpers.

John A. Logan got a superb performance from DI transfer Sean West, who garnered a game high 43 points with four dishes. Finishing with ten a piece were Cobie Barnes and Tujautae Williams. Barnes had team high 9 rebounds. The Vols end up at 29-4.
