About

That’s me getting ready to do one of my passions…public address announcing from the Men’s DI National Championship Tournament in Hutch

Juco Hoop Scoop was created by Curt Derr, a lifetime Junior College Basketball enthusiast from the Midwest. Being involved in just about everything Basketball from A to Z, spanning multiple decades, has provided the author with a solid foundation as a subject matter expert……..of sorts!

As a regular attendee at the Men’s D1 National Championship Tournament (held annually in Hutchinson, KS, since 1949), he has witnessed a lot of talented coaches and players over the years, many who went on to outstanding careers at the next levels. Although not a trained professional writer, his passion and associations over the years keep him, “in the game,” and helps provide an interesting take and perspective for all viewers.

This page is designed to provide just about everything imaginable that a person would need to follow Men’s DI Junior College Basketball. Including schedules, scores, rankings, general news and information, feature articles, interviews, records, history, links, video, audio, photos, facts and opinions, all under one roof. Plus, the incite, viewpoints, and “expert” commentary from the creator. One stop shopping. The Amazon of two year college hoops. Hopefully, you’ll learn some things you didn’t even know, you needed to know.

With 194 Division One men’s basketball programs participating in the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) 2022-23 season, this blog/web page wouldn’t be possible, or complete, without outside contributions from athletic administrators, coaches, and other media correspondence throughout the country, and of course, information from the NJCAA itself, primarily through their website, njcaa.org.

Although still in it’s infancy, we think you’ll find this blog/web page will soon be the most comprehensive collection of Juco basketball information you ever dreamed of stumbling onto. Our passion becomes your pleasure.

Junior and Community College basketball is alive and well, despite recent signs of fan attrition and lower attendance. Our goal is to make sure you have the resources to enjoy the game as we do, and to help re-invigorate the love and popularity of the wonderful institution we call JuCo ball.

Please feel free to comment on things you find interesting, or better yet, things you have questions about, in our contact page, or through the fan forum message board.
