#1 Seed Howard Sets Modern Day Record In Comeback Win
Howard trained by 14 in the first half as Daytona got a fast start out of the gate.
Since the field expanded to 24 teams and single elimination format was introduced in 2013, the largest comeback to win in the tourney was 14 points.
Howard tied that mark as the Hawks, trailing by 7 at half 49-42 went on turbo shutdown mode in the second half to win 96-75.
If I did the math right, the Hawks won the second half 54-26.
The win puts Howard into the Quarterfinals and will play Wednesday March 25 at Noon. They’ll get the Butler CC/Snow College winner.
Terry Copeland was game high for Howard tallying 31 and doubling with 11 boards. Brandon Ivery contributed 21 and 8 boards.
The Hawks owned the glass 42-28.
It was a 35 point turnaround by Howard by the time the final horn sounded.
Tyrese Lacey ripped the nets for 17 to lead Daytona State.
