Another Upset As Vincennes Issued Walking Papers

NJCAA Tournament kingpin, leaders in overall tournament appearances, tournament wins and overall wins, plus tied with three other teams with four National Championships, receives their walking papers.

The 6 seed Trailblazers fall to #11 Northwest Florida State 76-62.

Of course NWF is no stranger to NJCAA enthusiasts like myself. They are one of the teams with 3 titles, most recently in 2022 and were runners-up in 2023.

VU came out determined, taking a ten point lead with under 8 in the first at 21–11. But the Raiders outscored the Blazers 21- 5 to finish out the half up 32-26.

Vincennes never found the right gear to challenge in the final 20 minutes, losing that frame by 8.

There was 1 tie and four lead swaps in the game.

Damarion Vann-Kelly hammered home a game high 30 in 30 (minutes) to pace the Raiders (27-7). 

Dayton Williams was high point for VU (31-3) with 27.

The Floridians from Niceville will advance to the Quarterfinal round Wednesday at 8:00 vs another Region 8 At-Large, Gulf Coast State.
