Golden Eagles Fly High, Gain Semifinal Berth Over Walters State

10th seed Walters State brought an impressive record (30-1), into the tournament for their 10th overall trip to Hutch. Best of the 24 teams.

Plus the Senators were ranked 4th in the regular season in scoring, averaging

100.4 ppg.

Facing #2 seed College of Southern Idaho with all the whistles and bells of 29 appearances, three National Championships, and 4 runner-up finishes.

The Senators played the Eagles tough in the first 20 minutes. Although the game was nowhere near the pace for either team posting the century mark on the board.

With absolutely suffocating defense and ball possession offense, CSI out raced WSCC to the finish line 47-32 in the 2nd half to record the 85-64.

Southern Idaho held the Senators 36.4 poins below their season average.

Too boot, CSI didn’t help Walters State (31-2) climbing back into the game by only commenting 2 turnovers in 40 minutes.

Jaylen Lyn went off for 25, Cooper for Kesler for 19, and Ben Thornbrue for 16 to pace CSI (32-2) in the win.

Taquez Butler with 14, and 13 each from Da’Mori Lytch and Brian Carter fueled Walters State.

CSI earns a date with Gulf Coast State in Friday’s second Semifinal scheduled for 8:00 at the Sports Arena on Friday, March 27.
