Snow Eliminates Lee, Now Gets #2 Seed Dodge City In Sweet Sixteen
Hutchinson, KS – Getting a game high 27 points from Drake Allen, #15 Snow College (UT) slips by Lee College (TX) in the third game of opening day at the NJCAA DI Men’s National Championship. Allen and Lee’s Kyron Gibson did all in their power to help their teams win, but it was Allen and his Badgers who came out on top 83-82.
The Runnin’ Rebels from Baytown, TX, led 41-38 at half, watch Snow flip the score in the last twenty minutes to force overtime. Lee led by as many as 7 in the first period, Snow took their biggest lead at the 9:23 mark 68-58. The Rebels were not ready end their season quit yet. Putting together a fast and furious rush, to pull within one, 75-74 with just under four to play.
Never relinquishing the lead, Snow (26-7) couldn’t avoid the extra session though as Darrell Washington of Lee hit a lay-up knotting things at 79, ultimately sending us into the second OT game of the day.
In the extra period, not much happened as Snow, an At-Large entry from the West District, won the OT, 4-3, and along with that, a trip to the sweet sixteen.
Behind Allen’s 27 point, 6 rebound performance, Clayton Southwick dropped in 22 with a 12 rebound double dip. Chase Potter added 16 points/6 boards. Wyatt Lowell finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Snow, 26-7, moves into the second round to meet #2 seed Dodge City CC on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:30.
Lee, the Mid-South At-Large entry, sees their 2nd appearance in Hutch come up just a little short. First year Head Coach Nicolas Wade’s ends up at 27-6.
