TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 19, 2021) – Wins come in all shapes and sizes, and the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men’s Basketball program is fast discovering that.

The Bruins finished a three-game tournament in Texas with an undefeated mark Friday, picking up a 102-95 overtime win over Odessa College. Salt Lake is now 8-0 overall with the win, scoring over 100 points in a game for the fourth time this season.

Both teams were neck-and-neck through the game, with Salt Lake finally pulling away in the overtime period due to a perfect 8-of-8 performance from the free-throw line. The Bruins performed well offensively throughout the game, shooting 50 percent from the field and going 5-of-8 from the field in the overtime period.

In summarizing a wild game, SLCC coach Kyle Taylor said the Bruins have discovered how to win in a variety of ways over the past few weeks.

“I don’t have many words to describe tonight,” he said. “We faced every type of adversity and just stood tall and played through it. I am so proud of our guys and how they fought and didn’t quit. We were incredibly resilient.”

Chase Adams posted a game-high 33 points for Salt Lake, while Quincy McGriff scored 17 points off-the-bench. Doctor Bradley contributed 16 points and Jaquan Scott finished with 11 points. Jackson Last scored 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting.

“Chase Adams made big shot after big shot; he was unbelievable,” said Taylor. “Jackson Last hit a huge three-point shot late in OT that really helped us separate. Jordan Brinson, Doctor Bradley, Jaquan Scott, and Quincy McGriff were all fantastic. It was a total team win.”

Salt Lake will next play on Friday, December 3 at home, hosting Northwest College.
