No. 1 Bruins Down Eastern Wyoming In Bruin Classic Opener

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 12, 2021) – The No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men’s Basketball team earned an impressive non-conference victory to open a an early season tournament.
 
SLCC earned a 102-62 win over Eastern Wyoming College, taking a double-digit halftime lead and then dominating the second half. The Bruins are now 4-0 overall with the win.
 
Salt Lake coach Kyle Taylor said SLCC played well in the tournament opener.
 
“Our relentless effort and intensity for 40 minutes was the difference tonight,” he said. “I thought we sustained our energy all night. The last 15 minutes, we were able to really separate.”
 
Salt Lake held a 51-40 lead at halftime, taking an early lead and never looking back. SLCC limited Eastern Wyoming to just 24 percent shooting (6-of-25), forcing 25 EWC turnovers and scoring 31 points off those turnovers. The Bruins held a 47-38 edge in rebounding, as well.
 
Quincy McGriff led Salt Lake with 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting, while Jackson Last and Chase Adams both posted 13 points apiece. Festus Ndumanya finished with a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. 
 

Taylor added, “Quincy was terrific tonight, he really got us rolling in the first half with those five three-point shots. Chase’s defensive presence and our ability to play with pace was good. Festus had another nice game with a double-double. It was another good team win.”
 
Salt Lake will play Laramie County Community College on Saturday at 5:00 p.m in Bruin Arena.
