NJCAA Announces Updates for 2020-21 Basketball Season

On September 1, 2020, the NJCAA National Office released the most recent update concerning Men’s Division 1 Basketball for the 2020-21 Season. Originally, teams would be allowed to start practice on September 14, with competition set to begin October 16, with teams asked to adjust schedules to limit games between Thanksgiving and January 1, 2021.

According to the new plan, teams can begin practice on September 15 and continue through December 15, 2020. Each team will be allowed five scrimmages total for the year, with a maximum of two coming after practice resumes on January 4, 2021. Also, each scrimmage will be limited to having no more than two outside opponents participating.

Competition will start on January 20, 2021, with a maximum of 22 games. All regular season games, Region and District Championships must be completed by April 10, 2021. The National Championship Tournament will be held April 19-24 at the Sports Arena in Hutchinson, KS. The tournament will consist of the 16 District Champions plus eight national At-Large selections.
