New Blood Make Appearances in Media Top 25 Poll
Central America (November 30, 2021) – The latest National Juco Media Top 25 Poll has been dropped. The new poll covers games from Monday, November 22 through Sunday, November 28. Five fresh faces have made the leap into the spotlight, each appearing for the first time this season. Please note that records in parenthases show overall records followed by records against DI Juco programs.
Making the biggest leap from the unranked is Collin Co. CC (TX) (9-0 overall; 5-0 vs. DI Juco’s), jumping to #15. Other newcomers include: Santa Fe CC (FL) (8-1; 5-1) at #19, Otero College (CO) (9-2; 6-2) moving into the #23 slot, State College of Florida (9-3; 9-3) shows up at #24, and entering at #25 is Hill College (TX) (9-2; 5-1).
Dropping out of this weeks Media Top 25 were #14 New Mexico JC, the highest ranked team to disappear, as well as Garden City CC (KS) and Barton CC (KS), previously ranked 19th and 21st respectively, #23 South Georgia Tech and #25 Lamar State-Port Arthur (TX).
Four currently unbeaten teams are receiving votes: Brunswick CC (NC) (5-0; 1-0), Southwestern Illinois College (8-0; 1-0), Wallace State CC (AL) (9-0; 6-0), and Caldwell CTC (NC) (6-0; 4-0), any of whom might be one of the next teams to sneak into the poll.
Salt Lake CC (UT) continues to hold down the #1 spot, having held that summit since the Preseason ranking in the middle of October. Hutchinson CC (KS) has worked their way from unranked but receiving votes in the Preseason poll to perch at #2 this week with a perfect 10-0 mark, nine of those wins coming versus other DI Jucos. The Blue Dragons had spent the prior two weeks at #3.
Two other Top 25 Media Poll teams have won 9 games against other DI programs. #8 Indian River State College (FL) (10-1; 9-1), and #24 State College of Florida (9-3), with all games facing DI teams.
Hutch replaces former #2 John A. Logan College (IL), who took their first loss last week to #8 Indian Hills on a neutral floor in Mattoon, IL. Logan secures the #10 position with a 7-1 record, all vs. DI opponents.
Rounding out this week’s Top Five are the Rangers of #3 Kilgore College (TX) (10-0; 6-0) up one level from the previous poll. Checking in at #4 is Chipola (8-1; 7-1), advancing 2 places, and holding onto #5 is Harcum College (PA) (8-0; 3-0).
