Indian Hills Up Tempo, Defensive Pressure Takes Down Ranger

March 22, 2023 (Hutchinson, KS) – #6 seed Indian Hills CC playing in the last game of the team’s getting first round byes, showed little rust from their Region 11 Championship game loss to rival Southeastern CC two and a half weeks ago.

For the first four minutes, the game looked like highly competitive game everyone thought it would be. But when Hills took the lead at that point, it never went away.

The Warriors’ stick tight defense was a pain all game for Ranger. As the nation’s best at defensive field goal percentage, Indian Hills didn’t disappoint. Hills limited Ranger to 27.6% on 16-58 FG attempts (including 4-19 from three – 21.1%.

IHCC also forced the Rangers into 20 turnovers which certainly didn’t help their cause.

Indian Hills received a superb performance from Don McHenry who totaled 26 points (5-9 on 3s), 6 rebounds and five helpers. Enoch Kalambay and David Jones each put in 11, and Trevion LaBeaux had 10. Jones doubled up with 11 rebounds.

For the Rangers, Taylon Conerway scored 20 accompanied by 9 boards. Mykell Robinson finished with a dub-dub with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Shay Davis had 12.

Indian Hills (28-4) advances to the quarterfinals and a date with #3 seed Odessa College. That game will be played Thursday at 8:00. Ranger’s season ends at 27-8.
