2022 NJCAA All-Tournament Team And Special Award Winners
(March 19, 2022) Hutchinson, KS – Every year following the championship game of The Tournament, the NJCAA tournament committee rewards a twelve member All-tournament team, a Tournament MVP, a Small Player Award, a Sportsmanship award and a Coach of the Tournament.
The most outstanding player from the winning team usually gets the MVP award, as the case this year. However, there are a few instances when that didn’t happen. The Coach of the Tournament is presented to the winning coach. An assigned tournament committee is responsible for analyzing and determining the recipients best deserving of each award.
It should be noted that the Sesher Sportsmanship Award has always been handed out to the individual displaying the best sportsmanship throughout their tournament games. It was started in 1966. This year, a new precedent was set as the award was issued to a team. Don’t know the details on why it changed, or whether it will return to reward an individual next year. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
