Chipola Moves To The Sweet Sixteen With A Dominating Display
March 20, 2023 (Hutchinson, KS) – Game 2 of the 2023 NJCAA Men’s DI Championships goes in favor of the #9 seed Chipola Indians. Chipola came into the game ranked #6 in the final NJCAA poll, and quickly asserted itself over the Atlantic District Champs from Wilmington, NC, 96-66.
Chipola took a 49-35 advantage into the locker room and coasted to the 30 point victory. The Indians (29-4) advance to the round of 16 to face #8 seed Midland College on Tuesday at 4:30.
Leading the way for CC was Cliff Davis with 23. Zach Bell ended with 15, including a several crowd pleasing dunks to close out the game. Derrick Butler offered 13 and Jamil Safieddine had 10. Paul Green grabbed nine rebounds in the win.
Cape Fear ends their season at 15-14. Two players had double figs for the Sea Devils, Dillon Harrison with 15 and Korey Richardson 11.
Chipola shot 50% from the field to Cape Fear’s 30%, and was plus 10 on the boards. Cape Fear was a measly 5 of 31 on their 3 point attempts.
