The Finish Line

Pictured is the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, KS, the destination of all NJCAA Men’s Division One Basketball teams at the start of each season. Ever year during the third week in March, 24 teams convene in East Central Kansas to compete in a the single elimination tournament. The larger photo above is Sam Butterfield Court inside the arena where 23 games over six days are played to crown the survivor as National Champion. The picture below left is the old view from the South side of the arena prior to the recent renovation project. This picture lower right is the new South Entrance which was opened during the 2017 tournament. Other improvements to the venue include additional restrooms, souvenir and concession stands, three full size multi-purpose practice courts, a full service state-of-the-art athletic training facility and strength and conditioning, six dressing rooms, game officials dressing rooms, media work room, media interview room, ticket office and several other multi-purpose offices.
